“I have known the owner of Emerald Cultural Institute, Mauro Biondi, for many years through international school and agency events, and had the pleasure of visiting the Palmerston Park school in 2006, where the adult and professional courses take place (it was the school’s original and only location at the time.) Mauro has always struck me as being exceptionally polished and professional, and the villa housing the school is extraordinarily beautiful and well-kept. In the years since I visited the school, it is has expanded its adult and junior locations and become a member of IALC, much to my professional delight. ECI also offers a very wide range of programs for its students and a great nationality mix. Since almost the beginning of my career, teenage programs in Ireland were deliberately missing from my portfolio of offerings, for the fact that they were dominated by Italian, Spanish and French children, with the former two nationalities making up the vast majority of course participants. In some summer centers, particularly those in which the accommodation is residential, the participants can also be ALL Italian. Parents who had sent their children on them would contact me later to say that no matter how well the programs were organized, their children had spoken Italian the whole time and learned very little English. However, for the fact that I personally very much like Ireland as a language study destination, I kept trying to find a program with a good nationality mix, and saw that the programs offered by Emerald Cultural Institute come as close to that as possible. They are also suitable for students who might be traveling as part of a small group, as the group can arrive in Dublin together and then the individual participants can choose between different course and accommodation options. For the Emerald Cultural Institute, I have started by featuring the programs at Trinity College for the variety of course options there, including an uncommon STEM camp in Ireland, and the centrality of the historic Trinity College for that particular option. The other course options, located in Trinity Hall, are also central, and offer the classes and accommodation in the same building. ECI also offers a Young Adults program in the very center of Dublin, next to the house in which Oscar Wilde lived. Young Adult programs are not too common in Ireland, or really in language schools in general, but are prized for the fact that they allow students who are too old for teenage programs to be in class and on activities with persons of their own age, rather than with students who are on the average 23 or 24 years old on adult programs.”

HOST FAMILY
Students attending the STEM course can also choose to stay in a host family. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. In 30 years of operation, the school has amassed a large selection of host families in Dublin, and homestays are in fact the accommodation of choice for the majority of ECI students. The school and Marshall Language Services recommend this form of accommodation the most for language learning. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practise their English with native speakers. By booking homestay accommodation, students will also not have to worry about shopping for food and preparing meals every day. Mealtimes are often the occasions in which families converse most with the students.

The following tool will help you to get a good idea of the cost of a language course and accommodation, if requested, at this school. It may not include all the courses and accommodation options available or take into account promotional offers or costs associated with student visas, insurance, study materials or exam fees. For these reasons, the availability of any course, accommodation option (especially in the high season) and the final price of a package will always have to be verified with Marshall Language Services prior to enrolment.
