Overview
Liddes is a charming village located at 1,345m high, in the Canton of Valais, more specifically in the grand pass of the Saint Bernard region. For thousands of years, this region has connected the north and the south of Europe. Many people have passed here on their way to Rome, including pilgrims, merchants and soldiers, and even Napoleon’s army, who marched towards the Marengo in France around 1800. Liddes is located in a wonderful spot, boasting a vast, mountainous landscape and a huge variety of hiking trails and sites.
Winter
Vichères offers skiing of all kinds for everyone to enjoy. It is a family center par excellence with slopes to suit all ages and abilities, plus a ski school with full facilities. Snowshoe trails complete the range of winter attractions. The regional network is the largest in Switzerland.
Summer
The nature reserve of La Combe de l’A is an outstanding natural jewel where geological history has been preserved for centuries. It is home to a wide variety of alpine flora and fauna. La Combe de l’A is a small valley linked to the Val Ferret by Le Basset or the Col du Névé de la Rousse. A midway point for walkers, the Tsissette mountain refuge offers shelter and a place to rest.

Things to Do and See During a Vacation Study
Crossing the Great St. Bernard Hill
The thousand-year-old refuge in Great St. Bernard is the point of departure for this hike, which goes towards Italy for a few kilometres and then back to Switzerland via the three mirror-like lakes. The descent into the village of La Fouly provides a touch of color as the wild flowers spring up in Val Ferret. The taste of alpine cheeses and the lively atmosphere in the village restaurants prepare hikers for their return journey.
Climbing at Champex-Lac
A three-day course is offered to new climbers to the art of rock climbing. The professionaly coached introductory course takes place in the heart of the Trient massif, a fabulous place to learn to climb.

In the summer, paddleboards provide visitors with the possibility of gliding over the clear waters of Lake Champex in a fairytale-like setting.
Toules Dam
Toules Dam lies in the community of Bourg-St-Pierre in Val d’Entremont and is fed mainly by the river Dranse d’Entremont. As Switzerland’s first arch dam, it was completed in 1964 and is 86 meters high. A so-called rap-jump promises the ultimate adrenaline rush.

Liddes can also be reached by rail from Geneva airport, with hourly trains from the airport to Martigny and then a connection to Orsières. Liddes can be reached from Orsières by bus. The rail and bus journey takes around 3 hours.
By Car
At 23 km from the nearest motorway exit, Liddes is easily reached by car.
