Summer Camp in Lignano Sabbiadoro
Overview
Lignano Sabbiadoro is one of the most important tourist destinations in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a whole peninsula that lies between the Adriatic Sea, the Tagliamento River, and the Marano Lagoon. With its exposure to the Southeast, it is bathed in sunlight all year long, rendering it one of the loveliest and liveliest seaside resorts on the Adriatic.
The jewel in the crown of Lignano is its beach: 8 km of sand to experience and enjoy. The golden color of the sand gives the town part of its name Sabbiadoro, meaning “Sand of Gold.”
The surrounding azure waters are clean and shallow, ideal for a family holiday with children. For years the resort has been awarded the European Blue Flag, a standard that has been achieved by only a few beaches in Italy, which denotes the attention to care and cleanliness not only of the resort’s waters but also of the whole area.
The peninsula on which Lignano is located is a green space, one of the largest pine forests in Northern Italy. Its beauty even delighted Ernest Hemingway, who stayed there and baptized it “the Florida of Italy.”
