“Following an increased request from my clients for summer programs in Switzerland, in August 2019 I went on an extensive tour in which I visited 13 camps and schools, in both the German and French parts of the country. Of the programs not directly in the mountains, many of them are concentrated in the area around Lausanne and Montreaux, on the shores of Lake Geneva (also known as Lac Leman). I took that trip by car, and in driving to all these places, the reason that these programs are located there became clear—I was surrounded by what is possibly the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Not only is the lake, the mountains in the background, and the manicured flowers and vegetation extremely picturesque, but also the graceful architecture and pristine condition of almost every building I saw. Brillantmont itself is located in an upscale neighborhood of grand, private homes. From the brochure and photos, it is difficult to the appreciate size and the beauty of the campus. The main buildings consists of five distinct, side by side Belle Epoque villas, which on the inside retain much of their original charm. The school also has a large underground sports facility and theatre (but with natural light) that is not visible in photos of the campus exterior, and there are plans in place to build more. The bedrooms in the boarding houses are large and sunny, and many of them overlook the school’s garden and the lake. It was also a pleasure to meet the Victor McClean, the school’s Academic Head, who came in on purpose from his vacation to receive me. He very much left me with the impression that the school’s students (both during the academic year and the summer camp) would be known to the staff individually and receive a high level of care. Lausanne, where the school is located, is also a beautiful city, and having it in easy reach of the school gives students and parents who may be interested in dropping off or picking up their children more to see beyond the campus.”
