“I have long known Kapito and its Managing Director Hansgerd Schomacher through its association with IALC, and I was able to visit Münster and the school in 2008. For persons who want to study German without any particular destination in mind, I often recommend this school for a few reasons. First of all, it’s located in a fairly small city, much of which can be accessed on foot or on bicycle, eliminating the need for long commutes to host families and other locations, but it is still large and historic enough for there to be plenty to do. As a university city, it offers many services catering to students, and students at this school will have the opportunity to make friends and practice German with locals who for the most part are their own age. For students who prefer not to stay with host families, Kapito also offers the unusual opportunity for them to share apartments with the local German students, instead of only with its own students, who are not native speakers of the language. The school itself is of a good size, not so large that personal attention is lost, but big enough for students to be able to make friends in and out of the classroom. Münster is also reachable from various cities in Europe via direct flights, and is located in a region of Germany in which the “High German” is spoken, rendering the language dialect-free and easier for foreign students to understand. All of the students I have sent here have been very satisfied with their experience at this school, and as an agent, it has been a pleasure to work with the staff’s (typically German) punctuality and efficiency.”

HOST FAMILY
One of the best ways to experience the German way of life and culture is to choose homestay accommodation. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly by the onsite Homestay Coordinator to ensure consistently high standards. Homestays are in fact the accommodation of choice for the majority of students. The school and Marshall Language Services recommend this form of accommodation the most for language learning. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their German with native speakers. By booking homestay accommodation, students will also not have to worry about shopping for food and preparing meals every day. Mealtimes are often the occasions in which families converse most with the students.
Additional homestay provisions and information
- Homestay accommodation offers half board (breakfast and dinner), breakfast only or self-catering meal plans.
- All homestays offer Wi-Fi.
- Homestay families provide all bed linens and towels.
- Most homestays have shared bathrooms.
- Most homestay accommodation is located at an average of 30-45 minutes by public transportation.
- Some host families can provide students with a bicycle either free of charge or for a small fee.
- Homestay runs from Sunday to Saturday. It is possible to book extra nights at an additional cost.
