Camp Eagle Hill, founded in 1963, is a traditional American co-ed camp located on a 200-acre property in Elizaville, New York state, just two hours north of New York City. Camp Eagle Hill provides many state-of-the-art camp facilities, a well-rounded and varied program, a very large adult staff, small camp groups, and the opportunity for older campers to participate in 3-or 4-day excursions in the Eastern United States.
The historic, rural Columbia County, New York, where Camp Eagle Hill is located, is a feast for the senses. In a bucolic countryside setting, visitors will be able to view provocative works from international and regional artists, exhilarating theater, classical concerts, and modern and traditional dance all year-round. Then, in addition to stunning architecture and lush gardens, there are cultural attractions such as museums and galleries, and to many visitors, the great outdoors is simply the best part of Columbia County. It offers many places to hike or play golf, fish, ski, or swim.
An hour and a half away, a trip to New York City is the experience of a lifetime. With famous attractions like Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State Building and Yankee Stadium—to name just a few—NYC packs more to see and do into one compact area than any other place on earth. “Over the past few years, I have been receiving requests from families who are interested in sending their children to a classic summer camp, especially in the United States, rather than to an academic program, for their summer holidays. The reason for this is that over the course of many summer language programs, as well courses that their children may have done at home and at schools in their own country, they are ready to leave their textbooks and study of grammar behind and really use their English in a program along with children from the country where the camp is held. That way, they will be able to practice the language with them, learn many new activities that may not be available at home, and continue to communicate with their friends after camp is over in the many ways it is now technologically possible. Camp Eagle Hill is a good solution for that request because while it does have some international campers (who help to enrich the experience for all of them), the vast majority of them are American. It is part of the American Camp Association, which is a stamp of quality, along with the fact that the camp has been operating for 54 years. Here, the selection of activities is almost infinite and the staff-to-camper ratio is very high, a critical element for children staying so far from home. Camp Eagle Hill is also appealing for the fact that it is located not far from New York city—international campers will be arrive to it very easily through the hundreds of direct flights available to the area, and the camp program itself also offers a trip to New York City, and the historical Boston and Philadelphia as an add-on to the camp experience. Italian families will also appreciate the fact that the number of campers from their country is currently zero, allowing for a complete full-immersion experience in English for their children.”

The courses
CAMP PROGRAM AND SAMPLE TIMETABLE
Residential Camp
The program at Eagle Hill is dynamic, designed to give all campers a chance to explore, create, learn, exercise and above all, have fun. At Eagle Hill, campers participate in a six-period day with each activity period lasting for a little less than 1 hour. This day offers some athletics, swim time, individual choice for creative arts and theatre, as well as many smaller activity areas around camp.
For Younger Campers (Juniors / US School Grades 1 – 6/Ages 6-12):
For younger campers, an Eagle Hill day features a balanced program with group-centered and camper-selected daily activities. Younger campers eat their meals as a group, enjoy a rest period after lunch, a hot shower every day and some free play after dinner. A nightly snack either at the Eagle Hill Sweet Shop or under the stars by the bunk area ends the day.
For Older Campers (Teens/US School Grades 7 – 8/Ages 12-14)
This age group enjoys a later curfew, mixes boys and girls at dinner every day, has a larger and more varied weekly trip schedule and makes nightly visits to the “Eagle Hill Sweet Shop” for music and relaxing with camp friends. Teens have more individual choice in their programs, selecting 5 of their 6 activities during a typical camp day and time for a sports program. Teen campers also take an extended 3-day trip each season to either Boston or Philadelphia.
Seniors / US School Grade 9/Ages 14-15)
The Seniors campers enjoy a later curfew, an opportunity to travel off grounds a few evenings each summer and take part in a 4-day trip to either Baltimore/Virginia/DC or through New York State to Niagara Falls.
CITS (Counselors-In-Training) / US Grade 10/Ages 15-16)
The aim of the CIT Program is to provide opportunities to take on some responsibility for working with younger campers while at the same time allowing the individual CIT to enjoy an active and social camp experience. The CITs also assist at activity areas of camp, help run special events and evening activities and gain some work experience by supporting the camp. CITs travel with Seniors on a 4 day trip, enjoy a few evenings out each summer and have a later nightly curfew. On Fridays, CITs may travel as a group into the local area surrounding camp.
