With over 60 years of history, Camp Twin Creeks is a traditional American co-ed camp located in the Allegheny Mountains, in West Virginia. Camp Twin Creeks provides an exciting and varied program filled with activities and trips for all types for participants and specially designed programs for younger and older campers.
West Virginia is the only state in America that lies completely within the Appalachian Mountain range, hence the nickname “the Mountain State.” Its mountainous topography varies, giving each travel region a distinct identity worth exploring. Visitors can indulge in the Eastern Panhandle’s warm springs that George Washington once enjoyed, and are said to have a variety of health benefits; climb rugged, steep mountains peaking at over 6400 meters in the Potomac Highlands, including the state’s highest peak at 7780 meters; and explore mountain towns that are so remote that the cultures of their early settlers still remain, like the Swiss town of Helvetia. From gentle rolling farmland to deep gorges and canyons, the unique experiences in each region are all connected by scenic drives on winding, country roads.
Camp Twin Creeks is located in the southeast corner of the state of West Virginia, near the town of Marlinton, just 8 km from the Virginia border. The camp is reachable from large cities including Harrisonburg, Virginia (2 hours), Roanoke, Virginia (2 hours), Charlottesville, Virginia (2.5 hours), Charleston, West Virgina (3 hours), Washington DC, (4 hours) Columbus, Ohio (5 hours), and Baltimore, Maryland (5 hours).

“Over the past few years, I have been receiving requests from families who are interested in sending their children to a classic summer camp, especially in the United States, rather than to an academic program, for their summer holidays. The reason for this is that over the course of many summer language programs, as well courses that their children may have done at home and at schools in their own country, they are ready to leave their textbooks and study of grammar behind and really use their English in a program along with children from the country where the camp is held. That way, they will be able to practice the language with them, learn many new activities that may not be available at home, and continue to communicate with their friends after camp is over in the many ways it is now technologically possible. Camp Twin Creeks is a good solution for that request because while it does have some international campers (who help to enrich the experience for all of them), the vast majority of them are American. It is part of the American Camp Association, which is a stamp of quality, along with the fact that the camp has been operating for over 60 years. Here, the selection of activities is almost infinite and the staff-to-camper ratio is very high, a critical element for children staying so far from home. Camp Twin is also appealing for the fact that it is located fairly close to Washington, D. C.—international campers will be arrive to it very easily through the hundreds of direct flights available to the area. Italian families will also appreciate the fact that the number of campers from their country is almost zero, allowing for a complete full-immersion experience in English for their children.”
