“I had long heard of York as a famous and beautiful destination in England, and when I went to visit, found that that assertion could not have been more true. It is in fact the second most visited city after London for its history, architecture, walkable city center, postcard panoramas, fantastic cathedral, unique museums (I particularly enjoyed the York Castle museum of British “life”) and the list goes on. For a language student, for being so desirable at the international level, it is not saturated with language schools, and as a result, there are many good quality host families near the schools.
As a school, York Associates is unique in many ways—it is aimed at older students, no matter their reason for wanting to study there, be it for general English language improvement only, or for the need for professional training, both in the English language as well as in other important skills like leadership training, conflict management and team building. (The school also offers other hard-to-find, more specialized training courses, such as teaching students with dyslexia). Mature students on all its courses will also appreciate the activities designed for their age group and the choice of exceptionally high quality accommodation.
The management of York Associates could not be in better hands. The Claret Group also owns The European School of English (ESE) in Malta, with whom I’ve been working since 2003. I have sent many students there and the feedback from students, on every aspect of their stay, has never been less than stellar. It is not only the top language school in Malta in my opinion, but among the very best in the world. During a personal tour of York Associates by the director of ESE, and in subsequent meetings with York Associate’s trainers (one of whom is passionate about teaching and York and the Yorkshire area as a destination) it was clear to me that the standards applied to this school were no less than those of the school in Malta. In short, the visit to this school and to the city of York were an absolute pleasure for me, and I recommend it to anyone wanting a personalized, high quality learning experience in one of the world’s most beautiful places.”

Homestay
One of the best ways to learn more about British people and culture is to choose homestay accommodation. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. Homestays are in fact the accommodation of choice for the majority of students. The school and Marshall Language Services recommend this form of accommodation the most for language learning. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their English with native speakers. By booking homestay accommodation, students will also not have to worry about shopping for food and preparing meals every day. Mealtimes are often the occasions in which families converse most with the students.
