Trebinshun House, established in 1976, is a specialist language school for professionals located in the beautiful countryside of Brecon, in Wales. The school offers a relaxed and friendly learning environment in a historic manor house, and exceptional one-to-one and combination courses individually tailored to suit mature clients.
Originally a Welsh long house, the Trebinshun House manor house was created in 1588 to celebrate the defeat of the Spaniards. Extensive Georgian renovations took place in the late 19th century, when the famous Admiral Hamilton used his substantial prize money to create a wonderful Georgian manor house. In the late 1950s, another admiral, Watson, brought the house into the 20th century. The house is still in the Watson family’s possession, and now has all the comforts of the 21st century, but has kept its character from the past six hundred years.
Trebinshun House is blessed to have lovely countryside and dramatic natural scenery at its doorstep. For anyone who enjoys walking, a visit there will feel like a trip to paradise! The largest town near Trebinshun House, Brecon, has a beautiful Cathedral and an assortment of shops, pubs and restaurants. The historical town is the home of the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh infantry, and it has a theatre, cinema, three supermarkets and a post office. For eating out, there are many cafes and pubs. Brecon also has a good leisure centre with a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, a fitness centre and beauty salon.

“I had known about Trebinshun House since the very early days of Marshall Language Services, and fairly recently I had a visit from Robbie and Liza Watson, the current owners. The facility offers full immersion Business English training for professionals, who often go to London or New York for courses of that type, so a manor house in Wales might not be the first destination that comes to mind to someone looking for that. However, it is in fact an excellent place to go for people who want to make progress quickly. I have found in my career as study abroad agent, and even before then when I was teaching English, that the single biggest obstacle to busy adult professionals learning or improving a language is the lack of an ability to focus, as much as the lack of time in their lives. Trebinshun House is a beautiful, luxurious location in which not only is English taught to very high standards, individually or in very small groups for personal attention, but every last need during a stay is catered for, from the initial airport pickup to drop off. The countryside in itself, as anyone who has ever “retreated” there will know, allows for an immediate de-stressing and clearing of the mind, which is essential for very concentrated language study. At Trebinshun House, students will not only have the best of everything, but also the ability to network with professionals of similar stature around the world. The school has been going strong for more than forty years, with many of its clients coming from recommendations or repeat business. For any time available outside of the lessons, the unspoilt surrounding area, which largely includes the Welsh Brecon Beacons National Park, offers clients more opportunity to relax and explore it at a slow pace. First-time students attending a course at this school will most likely have never been to Wales, and in doing so, they will also be delighted to discover a country that is grossly undervalued for its beauty and history. They will at the same time get to know the locals, who like the Irish are of Celtic origin, and very friendly!”

Course tailoring
Clients will be thoroughly assessed for their objectives and priorities before the beginning of the English course, which will be used to provide a framework for their own tailored learning.
Business skills
All English language courses include development of professional skills such as negotiating, making presentations, facilitating meetings and writing.
Meals
Trebinshun House offers a variety of excellent quality meals and carefully chosen wine that are included in the course price. All meals will be held with hosts and teachers so that students will have even more opportunity to converse in English.
Guest evenings
Trebinshun House hosts weekly guest evenings where students can hear and speak to local or visiting speakers.
Airport Transfer
Trebinshun House can arrange one shared transfer from London Heathrow Airport in the form of the Trebinshun Car. This departs London Heathrow airport on Sundays at 16:00 and departs Trebinshun on Fridays at 13.00, so departure flights should leave from London Heathrow airport after 17:30.
Student Welfare
Trebinshun House’s Student Services team will ensure that students are well-looked after throughout their time at the school

ONE-TO-ONE ENGLISH COURSES (INDIVIDUAL/PRIVATE LESSONS)
- English levels: All
- Timetable: 8:45 – 17:15 including breaks and meals
- Course dates: Arrival on Sundays, classes begin Monday mornings and end on Fridays at lunch time.
- All course prices include accommodation, meals, course materials and a full social program.
Intensive Individual English course
- Number of hours per week: 30 (one-to-one lessons)
Individual English Course
- Number of hours per week: 22.5 (one-to-one lessons) and 7.5 (supported self-study)
COMBINATION ENGLISH COURSES
- Minimum English level: lower intermediate
- Timetable: 8:45 – 17:15 including breaks and meals
- Course dates: Arrival on Sundays, classes begin Monday mornings and end on Fridays at lunch time.
- All course prices include accommodation, meals, course materials and a full social program.
Intensive Combination English Course
- Number of hours per week: 15 hours (group lessons) and 15 hours (individual/private lessons)
Combination English Course
- Number of hours per week: 15 hours (group lessons), 7.5 hours (individual/private lessons) and 7.5 hours (supported self-study)
Note: Course weeks do not include Friday afternoons or Saturdays. For clients remaining for more than one week, special weekend packages are available from the school on request.
Trebinshun House offers excellent accommodation in its own small estate. All bedrooms are very comfortable and luxuriously decorated to feel more like a private home than a hotel. They each have an en-suite bathroom and are situated in either the main house or around the delightful courtyard. The school also offers superior, newly refurbished manor rooms with wonderful views of the countryside, exceptional bathrooms, king-sized beds and additional space in which to study and relax.

Insurance
Insurance covering medical and travel assistance, personal liability and trip cancellation is not included in the price of the program. Marshall Language Services has a policy available through Guard.Me that covers these elements, as well as an additional policy through CareMed that covers cancellation under a wider range of circumstances, including the need to repeat school exams.
