For students aged 13-16, Studio Cambridge’s Sir Laurence program offers intensive English courses at all levels in an international university setting. Living and studying in a Cambridge University college allows students to experience life as a Cambridge student. The course also offers themed lessons which cover the university’s traditions and history.
Cambridge is one of the most famous cities in the world. It has been a center of learning for 800 years and is the international symbol of academic excellence. With 20,000 university students, the whole city is designed for young people. It is the ideal place for the international English language student – international in outlook but very English in character, steeped in history but looking to the future, big enough to spend weeks exploring, but small enough to be relaxed and friendly.
Lucy Cavendish College is one of Cambridge University’s 31 colleges. It is a modern college, with good teaching and social facilities, very high quality residential accommodation and excellent food. It is just 10 minutes’ walk from the center of Cambridge. The Sir Laurence summer camp has been running at Lucy Cavendish College every year since 2009.

I have very enthusiastically been booking all of the Studio Cambridge junior programs for my clients since the beginning of my career. The Sir Laurence program stands out in particular because it is a small program with an intensive English course that does not accept large groups, making it suitable for students who are motivated language learners, who appreciate the opportunity to make friends with children from all over the world, and who wish to receive personal attention from the staff. As with all of the Studio Cambridge junior programs, the number of students that the program will accept of a single mother tongue are limited, so students are really forced to speak English with each other the whole time they are there. Cambridge as a location is also ideal for young students. It’s a beautiful, compact city that is perfect for exploring with the program staff, it is less than an hour from London, and even closer to Stansted airport, where many low-cost flights are available for the older teenagers on this program and for adults who may wish to accompany them. Another unusual aspect of the Studio Cambridge junior programs are the fact that except for the cost of the flight, and some pocket money for the students, the program price is truly complete. It includes the course, accommodation and meals, all activities, and the transfers to and from three of the main London airports at any hour on the given arrival and departure dates. Most junior programs limit these hours to the central part of the day, often rendering the cost of those flights much more expensive than the early morning or evening flights (which are sometimes the only ones left available in high season at any price.) These programs also go from Sunday to Sunday, allowing for an extra Saturday excursion at the end of a child’s stay (many programs don’t offer that possibility) and finally, medical, travel, and cancellation insurance is also included. The only negative aspect of this program is that it’s often sold out by the time I try to book it!

- Sir Laurence is intended for mature, motivated individual students or small groups only
- Sir Laurence is small campus course that offers a real feel of university life and a very personal atmosphere.

The following tool will help you to get a good idea of the cost of a language course and accommodation, if requested, at this school. It may not include all the courses and accommodation options available or take into account promotional offers or costs associated with student visas, insurance, study materials or exam fees. For these reasons, the availability of any course, accommodation option (especially in the high season) and the final price of a package will always have to be verified with Marshall Language Services prior to enrolment.
