Estudio Sampere is located in Spain’s most famous university city, Salamanca. The school offers high quality summer courses for children and teenagers aged 12 – 18 that combine Spanish language lessons with daily cultural and leisure activities, offering students the opportunity to experience a new culture and make new friends.
Salamanca is a rich and vibrant city, northwest of Madrid, and home to the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in Europe. Although it is relatively small, with only 170,000 inhabitants, there is plenty to do for students. There is an exciting nightlife and many restaurants, bars and shops, many in or hear the hub of the city, the famous Plaza Mayor. Salamanca is also home to charming historic sites and stunning architecture that can be explored on foot, including museums, palaces, religious buildings and squares. For these attractions, Salamanca’s old city was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988. Additionally, the fact that most of its buildings are made of sandstone has given Salamanca the nickname of La Dorada, or the “Golden City,” as a result of the golden glow the architecture bestows on everything.

“The Estudio Sampere schools have long been members of IALC, and indeed one of the founders of the original school in Madrid, Alberto Sampere, was one of the founders of IALC and its first president. Alberto and his wife Isabel pioneered Spanish as a foreign language teaching with the founding of their school in 1956, and a result, the Sampere schools are some of the oldest and most highly respected Spanish language schools in Spain. As a city for learning Spanish, Salamanca has the highest concentration of language schools in the country, which is not surprising considering all of the great reasons to study the language there. First of all, it’s home to the oldest university in Spain, and Europe’s second oldest, and the city itself is a fantastic place to go for a language stay. It’s easily accessible from Madrid, in Castilla Leon, the region of Spain in which the accent- and dialect-free Castillian, or “standard” Spanish is spoken, and the city itself is full of beauty and history. As is the case in many Spanish cities, the life of the town is the Plaza Mayor, which is full of outdoor cafés and is in general the place for the many students and townspeople to come together and socialize at all hours of the day. Spaniards are generally friendly, and many of them are eager to meet students of other nationalities for language exchanges (I speak from experience; I did my own language stay there in 1996, for one month, and I still have Spanish friends from that trip.) The city is the perfect size for a language holiday; the old town with the Plaza, cathedral and university buildings and residences is small enough to be completely walkable, but it is still filled with things to see and do, especially in the summertime. Children and teenagers on the Estudio Sampere program will be very well looked after in the relatively small school, and will be completely safe moving around in a city where both the student residences and the host families are close to it.”

Airport Transfers
Roundtrip transfers to and from Madrid Barajas airport are included in the price of the program. Students must arrive at the airport before 16:00 on Sunday and depart after 12:00 on Saturday. Marshall Language Services will need to furnish the participant’s flight information to Estudio Sampere Salamanca so that the airport transfers can be organized.
When the program is over, Estudio Sampere staff will accompany the participants back to the airport and check them into their flights. If they are traveling as unaccompanied minors, they will hand over the children to airline staff.
Student Welfare
All students enrolled in the Junior Summer Programs are covered by a Guard.me International Insurance policy.

COURSE CONTENT AND SAMPLE TIMETABLES
Spanish Course for Juniors (Ages 12 – 15)
Estudio Sampere’s Spanish summer course for juniors aged 12 – 15 combines Spanish study with a holiday in the historical university city of Salamanca. Spanish lessons in small classes are combined with activities and excursions to provide students with the opportunity to experience a new culture and make international friends.
The program provides:
- Minimum duration of 1 week
- 20 lessons per week
- All learning materials
- Maximum 12 students per class
- 4 cultural lessons per week
- Diploma on completion of course
Spanish Course for Teens (Ages 16 – 18)
Estudio Sampere’s Spanish summer course for teenagers aged 16 – 18 is suitable for those who want to learn or improve their Spanish learned at high school or for their own personal enjoyment. Classes are held daily and homework is always assigned. Teachers are demanding and only Spanish is spoken in the classroom. The course also includes cultural activities and excursions around Salamanca so that students can practice their new language skills.
The program provides:

- Maximum 12 students per class

HOMESTAY
One of the best ways to experience the Spanish way of life and culture is to choose homestay accommodation. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their Spanish with native speakers.
Additional homestay provisions and information
- Homestay accommodation includes a bedroom shared by 2 students.
- Meal plan: Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- Many homestays offer Wi-Fi.
- Most homestays are located near the school, 5 to 15 minutes on foot.
- Accommodation is from Sunday to Saturday. It is possible to book extra nights at an additional cost.
STUDENT RESIDENCE
In July and August, students on the Estudio Sampere Salamanca’s Junior Summer Programs can stay in a student residence. The residence offers rooms shared by 2 students.

- The residence is located near the school, 5 to 10 minutes on foot.
- Laundry will be done once a week.
- Accommodation is from Sunday to Saturday. It is possible to book extra nights at an additional cost.
