ESE Young Learners and Families offers a vast range of English courses and activities for children of all ages and abilities, and families in newly renovated, fantastic facilities as well as carefully selected, high quality accommodations. Students will be able to improve their English while taking part in various social activities, and enjoy a holiday in one of the most vibrant areas of Malta.
Megaliths, medieval dungeons and Calypso’s Cave – The Maltese Islands are positively mythic. The narrow meandering streets of their towns and villages lead to the main square, which is invariably dominated by the huge baroque church. As the countryside is dotted with medieval towers, wayside chapels and the oldest known human structures in the world, the Islands have rightly been described as an open-air museum.
The Maltese archipelago lies virtually at the center of the Mediterranean, 93 km south of Sicily and 288 km north of Africa. The archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of over 400,000 inhabitants occupying an area of 316 square kilometers. The Maltese archipelago exudes the island’s hospitable mission. Genuinely friendly and welcoming, the Maltese have established a cosmopolitan reputation throughout the island’s rich history. Home to the Knights of Malta in the past, conquered or governed by a wide variety of conquerors, the Maltese islands have established themselves as a truly cosmopolitan archipelago.
Most of the ESE Malta Young Learner classes and accommodations are in the 4-star superior Salini Resort, which is owned by the school. The Resort is located along the coast and overlooks the picturesque Salina Bay with open views of the magnificent Mediterranean Sea. Located towards the North of Malta, the Resort is just 30 minutes by car/taxi from Malta International Airport and one hour by public transport.
The Salini Resort offers easy access to public transport with direct routes to the capital city Valletta and the main towns St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and St Julian’s. For all young learner activities, the school will provide transport via its own shuttle bus.
For family vacations, the Salini Resort is perfect. Apart from the spacious family-friendly sized choice of rooms and indoor and outdoor sports facilities, it is within easy reach of Malta’s most popular beaches, diving schools, restaurants, casinos and nightlife in the neighboring tourist spots of Paceville and Bugibba. Travel cots are available free of charge and children under 2 stay free.

ESE – European School of English Adult School, Triq Paceville, St Julians, Malta
“I began working with this school when it joined IALC in 2003, and have sent students of all ages and language levels there throughout the years. Working with its staff has always been an absolute pleasure. When I visited Malta, I toured several language schools, and in comparison to schools that I saw in much smaller, old buildings, its school building and accommodations had the best facilities and services by far (and the main building has been renovated once again since the time I was there). The quality of the teaching and the school’s attention to its students, despite its large size, has never been any less than its appearance. I found Malta in general to be an extremely interesting and unusual place to visit in Europe, with its blend of Arabic, English and European cultures, and the people exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It’s a great place to have a language vacation on a budget, not because the school or accommodations are low quality, but because the cost of living is much lower in Malta than in the rest of Europe. It is possible to do many more things in Malta at a reasonable cost with respect to England or Ireland, like eating out. Malta is also the only place in Europe for an English language course in which the weather is truly hot and sunny most of the time, allowing for sunbathing and water sports. Despite the fact that Maltese is the other official language of Malta, it does not present a problem for language learners, as the English spoken there is perfectly correct and native-sounding, and cannot be confused with the completely different, Arabic-based Maltese. This is truly one of my favorite destinations for my clients.
I have recommended this program in particular for teenagers because it has an excellent nationality mix, the teaching and activity are good quality and the accommodation is excellent. The school leaves nothing out in terms of supervision and transport to classes and the activities. This school owns all its own residences and the one they use for juniors, the Salini Resort, is among the nicest on all of Malta. Just look at the photos to see what I’m talking about. All of the students I’ve sent on this program have returned very satisfied.”

From our clients
My daughter Isabella, aged 15, spent three weeks in Malta at the ESE and was very happy there, in particular for the fact that the teachers and the organizers were young and very friendly. In her host family, she shared a room with a girl who was Turkish and another one who was Danish, and had the opportunity to be around students of various nationalities constantly. As a result, she spoke English all day. Ms. Marshall was very present, available and quick in helping us with all aspects of the booking and Isabella’s stay in Malta.
Best Regards,

HOST FAMILY
One of the best ways to learn more about the people of Malta is to choose homestay accommodation. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. The school and Marshall Language Services recommend this form of accommodation the most for language learning. Family life is informal and the people are welcoming, friendly and talkative, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their English with native speakers. By booking homestay accommodation, students will also not have to worry about shopping for food and preparing meals every day. Mealtimes are often the occasions in which families converse most with the students. ESE organized transport is provided from/to school and social activities.
Additional homestay provisions and information:
- Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the home from Monday to Friday, all meals on Saturday and Sundays. Packed lunch during the week, or a hot meal is available at the Salini Resort with supplement.
- Most host families are located within walking distance of the ESE school premises.
- Students are placed in shared rooms. During the high season, a host family may host up to four students at a time.
- For adults, executive host families with private bathrooms are available at an additional cost.
- Student aged 13 – 14 must return to residence by 23:00.
- Students aged 15 – 17 must return to the residence by midnight (Sunday to Thursday) and 1:00 (Fridays and Saturdays).
